Welcome to the 2016-17 School Year!
We’re excited to see you’re interested in Triton 3D! We are a student organization made up of a wide variety of majors here at UC San Diego. While we do function primarily as an engineering organization, as we are a member organization of the Triton Engineering Student Council, we have members from many campus departments including Computer Science, Visual Arts, Economics, and more! We’re a group of students who really love the power of additive manufacturing and 3D printing. We see it as more than just a gimmick or trend, but as a truly revolutionary piece of technology that is changing the way we look at rapid prototyping, manufacturing, and production.
We have a number of student research projects in junction with many different faculty, programs, and other organizations. These projects are working to test the limits of 3D Printing technology, changing the way we think about the world around us. Find out more under the projects tab in the header.
This coming April, we will be hosting the Third Annual Makeathon competition, a 36-hour CAD Design and 3D Printing challenge. The Makeathon takes the fun and enjoyment of traditional hackathons, and shifts the focus from software and digital creation to actual, physical production. Each of the previous Makeathons have filled to capacity and we want to see the competition grow larger than it has ever been before. Check out the Makeathon tab above to get more information of the past competitions, and find out more details about this school year’s challenge!
If you’re interested in joining, or have an idea for a research project we could help sponsor you to kickstart, get in contact with us! The primary email for the Triton 3D (T3D) is:
We hope to see you out sometime this school year!
