Triton 3D was founded by a few students with an interest in the applications of additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping. The goal was that in doing so, they could bring together students of all levels of experience that had an interest. From its inception in January 2015, Triton 3D had humble beginnings as a loose aggregate of students who were interested in 3D printing technology, but quickly grew into the school’s premiere source for 3D printing expertise and support.

Today, the organization has several active project teams with professors on cutting edge research, runs regular tutorials on CAD design and 3D printing, and provides technical support and advancement with existing design studios on campus.
