Welcome to Triton 3D<\/h1>\n

Triton 3D is a student organization at UC San Diego for students who have a passion for additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping and 3D printing for fun. We were officially founded in January 2015, and have been one of the most active new organizations on campus.<\/p>\n

What We Do<\/h3>\n

Our active project teams work hand in hand with faculty in the Jacobs School of Engineering and other UC San Diego departments\u00a0to conduct cutting edge research with the goal of finding how 3D printing can\u00a0change the way we look at the world and solve problems. We also offer support to all the Maker Spaces\u00a0across campus including the Digital Media Lab in Geisel Library, the Envision Maker Space, and more.<\/p>\n

The Annual Makeathon<\/h3>\n

Our flagship outreach event is the annual Makeathon competition. The Makeathon is a weekend-long\u00a0CAD and 3D printing challenge where competitors are given a prompt\u00a0that they design and build a solution for.\u00a0The event offers beginner and advanced categories\u00a0so that that students of all skill levels can compete. The 2016\u00a0Makeathon\u00a0was\u00a0very successful\u00a0with over 60 competitors and more than\u00a010 3D printers running simultaneously, generously loaned by\u00a0ROBO 3D. The event was also sponsored by Autodesk in their initiative to help student organizations across colleges and universities learn how to use their programs and promote their newest, most refined program, Fusion 360.<\/p>\n
